As the department’s previous financial system only goes back to 2011, the figures for 2008, 2009 and 2010 have been taken from the published States of Jersey Accounts.
When Income Support was first implemented there were several benefits it replaced, so the figures for 2008, 2009 and 2010 include transitional benefits such as Income Support Residential Care, which has since been replaced by Long Term Care. The department is unable to provide a breakdown for years 2008, 2009 and 2010 to differentiate between actual Income Support expenditure and transitional benefit payments.
