Government of Jersey employees below Tier 1 and Tier 2 are protected from identification for the purposes of Freedom of Information disclosure, and therefore, Article 25 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 has been applied.

Article 25 has also been applied to the parties not employed by Government of Jersey.

C

The Action for Cleaner Water Group is comprised of senior officers both from the Government of Jersey, Jersey Water and the Agricultural Industry.

The main purpose of the group is to address issues relating to diffuse water pollution, that, by its nature, can derive from a multitude of sources, therefore it is not easy to apportion to a single incident.

It therefore follows that real change can only take place through joint discussion and changing behaviour with the majority of stakeholders.  The Group work collectively together to identify and deliver solutions to safeguard and improve the water sources of Jersey.

The required open dialogue has taken some years to develop within the group. The role of the Chair and members is to ensure that personal or business agendas do not interfere with robust decision making that benefit our island’s water resources.

Thus, although potential polluters and the public water provider sit on the group, this is necessary as they are key to finding and delivering solutions. The dialogue is open and the Chair monitors this and has not observed any potential conflicts of interest interfering with decisions made.

D

The action group last met on the 6 April 2023.

A copy of the minutes is attached.
