Light aircraft lands safely after engine failure 

Plane makes emergency landing

An emergency was called at Jersey Airport this afternoon, Friday 30 July 2010, when a light aircraft travelling to Vendee suffered an engine failure.

The pilot of the Diamond Twinstar DA 42 aircraft reported loss of the engine at approximately 12.18pm shortly after take-off and returned to Jersey Airport.

The aircraft, which had 1 passenger on board, was met on arrival by the airport’s rescue and firefighting service. The plane was towed from the runway, which was closed for approximately 10 minutes. No-one was hurt.
