Resurfacing of La Route de la Haule, Beaumont to Bel Royal, Full Road Closure After 9.00pm

22 March 2007

For a period of one week starting on Monday 26th March, La Route de la Haule, from Beaumont to Bel Royal, will be completely closed to traffic from 9.00pm until 2.00am , as part of the ongoing road resurfacing project. This is to allow large machines to work in the narrowest sections of the road.

The new traffic management arrangements will be operational from Monday to Friday. Normal two way traffic will be maintained all day until 6.30pm . From 6.30 to 9.00pm , the road will be one way, for St Brelade bound traffic only and then from 9.00pm until 2.00am , there will be a full road closure, with access to premises only.

From 6.30pm Town bound traffic will be diverted via Mont Fallu or La Rue du Craslin, which will be made one way each evening to ease traffic flows. After 9.00pm only, when the road is closed, West bound traffic should leave Victoria Avenue at First Tower or Rue de Gallet and follow diversion signs via La Route de St Aubin (Inner Road) and La Vallée de St Pierre, to Mont Fallu and the top of Beaumont Hill.

The scheduled day time bus service will be as normal. Before 9.00pm during evening working hours the outward bound bus services from town will not be affected, but return journeys will be via Le Rue du Craslin. After 9.00pm only, outward bound bus services will be replaced with a shuttle bus, travelling from Bel Royal via the seafront promenade, dropping off at Beaumont for onward journeys using scheduled services.

Long diversions are required during full road closures and delays are anticipated. The travelling public is advised to allow more time for their journeys.

When the week’s work is completed, the evening traffic management will revert to the previous one-way system. Two further weeks of full road closures will be required later during the project, warning notices will also be posted in advance of these works.

Transport and Technical Services will be liaising with Ronez Ltd to ensure that nuisance and disruption is minimised and managed. Advertisements and signs identifying the extent of the works and diversions will be posted leading up to the works.
