ITIS - Changes to the way tax bills are issued to taxpayers

02 February 2009

The Income Tax Office is changing the way in which people are informed of how much income tax they have to pay.

Under the new system, ITIS taxpayers will be sent their annual tax liability (Notice of Assessment) as soon as it has been calculated by the Income Tax Office.

This change does not affect the way ITIS taxpayers pay their tax liability. Instead it is hoped that by sending out assessments as they are calculated, taxpayers will have more up to date information.

Taxpayers who do not pay their income tax through ITIS will continue to receive their annual Notice of Assessment in late September.
