Tourism Development Fund - interim chairman appointed

12 February 2016

The Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture has appointed the Chairman of Visit Jersey, John Henwood MBE, as interim chairman of the Tourism Development Fund (TDF) and re-opened the Fund.

The TDF allows for an independent panel to advise and make recommendations to the Minister on applications for funding. Members of the advisory panel are unpaid and give their time and expertise on a voluntary basis.

The TDF will align itself with the Jersey Destination Plan, which was produced by Visit Jersey and  subsequently approved by the Minister, Senator Lyndon Farnham. Mr Henwood will assist members of the advisory panel in this area, as well working with the Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture Department to make a case to allow the Minister to secure future funding for the Fund itself.

Senator Farnham said “John’s experience of, and dedication to, the tourism industry in Jersey will be key to aligning the Tourism Development Fund to the current and future needs of the Island. I am delighted he has agreed to assist and will be working with us to secure the future of the Fund.”

Mr Henwood said “It is vitally important that the Tourism Development Fund supports the exciting path set by the Jersey Destination Plan, and I am pleased to work with the Minister on the TDF to achieve the necessary change.”
