Draft bridging Island Plan programme published

24 September 2021

The Planning Inspectors appointed to examine the draft bridging Island Plan have issued a draft hearings programme and programme guidance for the examination in public which is now under way.

The draft programme and guidance has been circulated to all those who participated in the draft Bridging Island Plan consultation held earlier this year. Those people have an automatic right to participate in the examination process. If someone has not been contacted but believe they should have been, they are advised to get in touch Programme Officer before the deadline for comments on 5th October.

If someone did not submit comments during the draft Bridging Island Plan consultation but a new issue or site of particular interest has since arisen as a result of the consultation, they are also invited to contact the planning inspectors via the Programme Officer to request to be included at this late stage. A clear reason must be provided in the request, and any late inclusion into the process will be at the Inspectors' discretion.

The draft hearings programme includes the further sites suggested as potential alternative housing sites by the Minister for the Environment in his post-consultation report, and also the sites which are the subject of States Member amendments.

Comments on the draft hearings programme should be limited in scope to the matters which have been selected or the list of participants. Comments should be submitted to the Programme Officer by 2.00 pm on Wednesday 5 October. Full details are available at www.gov.je/islandplanEiP

Following consideration of comments received on the draft list, the Inspectors will issue a revision for the examination in public programme. An opportunity will then be provided to make formal 'further representations' on issues relating to the draft Bridging island Plan. Details of the key stages of the examination are provided in the programme guidance notes.
