The unfinished southern (Archirondel) breakwater used the same construction method as at St Catherine's breakwater although works stopped at an early stage. The structure is founded on a tipped rubble mound and consists of two coursed masonry retaining walls with rock filling. The seaward section remains unsurfaced since the day it was abandoned, and the landward section is filled with earth and gravel.
