External Description
Situated at the top of St Peter's Valley. Various mill buildings and structures, now in ruinous condition (full extent of survival not visible due to mass of undergrowth). The main building (originally 2 storey) has all external walls standing, to height of ground floor lintels. West gable wall survives to greater height. The walls are of a vernacular building form, constructed of rubble granite with long irregular dressed stone quoins. South facing elevation has doorway in east bay, with dressed stonework surround and lintel carved with stylised corn / wheat sheaf. East gable end with further doorway. The mill was designed with two over-shot wheels set at different levels. The west gable end is constructed to take the lower over-shot wheel, with three small sturdily constructed openings at differing heights. Rising up the slope to the rear (north) of the west gable is a tall, narrow rubble granite structure designed to house the upper over-shot wheel and brick-lined sluice that conducted water from the mill leat to the wheel. Remains of the sluice gate. The mill leat survives on the upper slope, running northeast.
