An imposing mid-19th century house, retaining historical character, with associated outbuildings of group value - all with notable stonework.

External Description
19th century house with former farmhouse and outbuilding range to east - now St Michael's School. Other school buildings and modern extensions are not included within the listing. The main building is symmetrical 5 bay, 2 storey with attic and raised basement. Single-storey wings, with basement, to east and west. Hipped roof with overhanging eaves, and second storey attic at centre with pyramidal roof (modern dormers and artificial tiles not of interest). Original 4 tall chimneystacks now lost. Front (south west) elevation: central bay projects under a pediment with window. Walls are ashlar dressed dark blue/grey stone with lighter granite ashlar quoins and window dressings. Windows are replacement 8 (4/4) pane with margin lights; shutters lost. The raised entrance doorway is approached by mirrored curved flights of granite steps with iron railings. Flat roofed columned 'Tuscan' porch (replica of original). Door with half-glazed sidelights and single pane overlight (replica of original). Wings with paired hipped slate roofs with tall corniced chimneys. Dressed grey stone rubble with quoins and contrasting granite lintels and sills to windows. Adjacent farm range (renovated 2002-03) with matching dark blue/grey stone with lighter ashlar quoins and opening surrounds; granite gables. Artificial tile roof. Includes 3-bay, 2-storey farmhouse with 12-pane (6/6) sash windows with external shutters (added 1970s) integrated into outbuilding range including former arched carriage throughway (now glazed). Includes re-used datestones 1641, 1730 & 1735. All windows and doors modern (not of interest).
