Request

Please provide the driver age demographics for “All reported road traffic Collision” total numbers in column G for the previous Freedom of Information request below: -

Updated traffic incident figures for 2023 (FOI)

Response

States of Jersey Police systems are not configured in a way that allows us to provide details of the age demographics relating to all ‘reported’ road traffic collisions. This would require a manual inspection of all such reports, which would exceed the cost limitation. Article 16(1) of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law has therefore been applied.

However, our systems are able to provide a breakdown of the age demographics for ‘recorded’ road traffic collisions (those that involve injury, suspected offences, or damage to third party property where the owner is not at the scene), and these splits are available on the attached table for up to 25yrs, 26yrs to 40yrs, 41yrs to 64yrs, and 65yrs and over.

Article 16 - A scheduled public authority may refuse to supply information if cost excessive

(1) A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations.
