Adult mental health

​What to do in a mental health crisis

If you're in a mental health crisis, call us on +44 (0) 1534 445290. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We sometimes receive a large number of calls. If you can't wait on the phone, you can leave a message and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

In a crisis, we aim to see you within 4 hours, where this is assessed to be clinically indicated. Otherwise, we'll arrange for you to be seen as soon as possible depending on your needs.

If there is an immediate risk

If you or someone you know are in immediate danger of serious harm and you need immediate medical help or the help of the police call 999.

Give as much information as possible to the operator and be as clear as you can when giving your address or location, and telephone number.

People receiving treatment or help for mental ill health

If you're already receiving support from one of our community mental health teams, you should contact the team and your care co-ordinator or the team's duty worker.

Services we provide

Adult Mental Health is a service for clients between the ages of 16 and 65. We provide the following services:

  • Adult Community Mental Health Team
  • Crisis and Home Treatment Team

  • Memory Assessment Service
  • Alcohol and Drug Service
  • Mental Health Legislation Team
  • Jersey Talking Therapies (JTT) 
  • Psychological Assessment and Therapies (PATS) 
  • Jersey Adult Autism Service (JAAS)

Adult Community Mental Health Team

The Adult Community Mental Health Team is the point of entry for all individuals being referred into adult mental health services.

We provide a supportive role for service users and their families in community settings, as well as:

  • information
  • screening
  • assessment
  • where appropriate, onward referral for persons presenting with an acute mental health issues

Access our service

We're open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. You can self-refer into Jersey Talking Therapies or by phone for alcohol issues and getting help. Referrals into other services are accepted from a variety of health professionals. If you would like a referral, speak to your GP.

For out of hours and emergencies the team can be accessed through local GPs and the Emergency Department at the General Hospital.

Listening Lounge

Our team comprises of counsellors and peer support workers who have lived experience of mental health difficulties. The services we offer are:

  • one to one counselling
  • peer support
  • bibliotherapy
  • online therapy 
  • information and signposting

Bookable counselling sessions are available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm to 9pm.

We can help with:

  • low mood
  • anxiety
  • continuous worry
  • obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • phobias and fears
  • feelings of panic
  • intrusive and unwanted thoughts
  • traumatic events
  • stress
  • patterns of disordered eating

Opening hours

We're open from 10am to 10pm daily.

There is no parking available at Charles House. The closest carparks are Ann Street and Minden Place.
