Jersey’s self catering receives a major boost for 2007

16 August 2006

Jersey’s tourism industry will receive a major boost as Hoseasons Holidays, the largest self catering operator in the UK, signs up Channel Islands properties for their 2007 programme.

Hoseasons Holidays will re name their brochure for 2007 to “UK and the Channel Islands”, following product director, Sara Zimmerman’s, decision to expand their programme to include the Channel Islands.

Initially six complexes in Jersey and seven in Guernsey have been contracted, through which they hope to deliver 10,000 clients in the first year of operation.

The programme will be launched this September, which coincides with the start of the Channel Islands contracts. David Lord of the Best Western Highfield Country hotel, one of the featured properties, said “Potentially our first visitors could arrive here in time for the Autumn Walking Week in September, which is a very exciting prospect.”

David de Carteret, Director of Tourism and Marketing for Jersey, said, “We are delighted that Hoseasons Holidays have decided to include Jersey in their self catering programme. The island will not only receive a high profile from the brochure branding but will also reap the benefits of their vast marketing network.”

Richard Carrick, Chief Executive of Hoseasons Holidays said, “The Channel Islands is a key opportunity for growth and an obvious gap in our portfolio. Hoseasons is well placed to drive significant sales volume to the islands: Our programme will be supported with a multi million pound marketing campaign, including brochure distribution to over 1.5 million households, and 6000 travel agents. We have a record of success in extending the season at self catering units across the UK: In particular, through promoting ‘reasons to travel’; we capitalise on the full range of destination benefits i.e. walking, cycling, food, history and culture; this fits in perfectly with the Channel Island product.”
