Three Vans Impounded In St Mary Road Check Were Only Fit For Scrap

Of the 110 vehicles stopped on Thursday 14 June 2007 in a St Mary road check, three small vans were impounded, seven drivers were issued with defect notices, three vehicles were not displaying valid insurance discs and one vehicle was found to be unregistered in the Island .

Officers from Driver and Vehicle Standards, (DVS), the States of Jersey Police and the Honorary Police of St. Mary conducted the vehicle check on roads between St Mary Parish church and St Mary primary school.

Three small vans were impounded for grossly defective bodywork and all are likely to be scrapped. Seven drivers were issued with defect rectification notices requiring them to present their vehicles at DVS with repairs completed. Defects included:

Defective bodywork

Inoperative lights

Worn tyres

Three vehicles were not displaying valid insurance discs and one vehicle was found to be unregistered in Jersey .
