Free bus day

23 April 2010

People in Jersey are being reminded that it's ‘Free Bus Day' this Sunday 25 April.

Passengers can travel free of charge on all Mybus and myExplorer bus services. This initiative is being held to encourage more people to view bus travel as a good alternative to taking the car. It also coincides with the Tour de Bretagne cycle race which is taking place in Gorey and catching the bus is a great way to get to the event without worrying about where to park.

This Sunday will also be the first day the public will be able to use the double decker bus. A 2 week trial is being undertaken to investigate whether double deckers could become part of the Island's bus fleet. Although it will normally operate on the airport route 15, it will be running between Liberation Station and St Aubin on Sunday.

Due to Tour de Bretagne, the Green Explorer will travel between La Hougue Bie and St Helier via Mont Millais and Bagatelle Road and will be replaced on the St Clement Inner Road by buses operating on the 1A route.
