Public reassured on census deadlines

07 March 2011

The public are being reassured that they will not be fined if they are on holiday on census day (27 March) and are unable to return their questionnaire straight away.

Hand delivery of the census questionnaires will start at the end of this week and continue until census day itself. The delivery will be undertaken by census staff.

The census office are advising people that if they receive their questionnaire before they leave the Island they can complete it in advance, otherwise they should fill it in and post it back as soon as possible after their return. If they are going to be away for an extended length of time the census office are suggesting that they contact them before they leave.

Census Manager, Sarah Davis, explained “We fully accept that some people will be away on holiday or on business on census day itself. We ask that people complete the questionnaire as soon as they return or contact our helpline.”
