About the Back to School Bonus
The Back to School Bonus is a one-off payment for the September 2026 school year. It’s to help families in Jersey with the cost of getting ready for the new school year.
All payments will be made in summer 2026, before the start of the school year.
Applications open on Monday 15 June 2026 and will close on Friday 31 July 2026.
Bonus amount
The bonus amount you receive depends on your child’s age:
- £100 for each primary aged child
- £150 for each secondary aged child
If you receive Income Support
If you receive Income Support, and you qualify for the bonus, you don't need to apply. You’ll automatically get the bonus in August 2026. We will send you a letter to explain the payment.
Who can apply
You may be eligible to get the bonus if you:
- have one or more children attending a Jersey school in September 2026. Either primary or secondary school
- don’t receive Income Support

currently live in Jersey
- were living in Jersey on or before 30 September 2025
- your household income for 2025 was £75,000 or less
How to apply
You can no longer apply for the Back to School Bonus.
Applications closed on Friday 31 July 2026.
How and when the bonus will be paid
If your application is approved, payment will be made in August 2026.
The bonus can be paid into the following bank accounts types:
- Jersey bank account
- UK bank account
- online banks, such as Revolut
