About the Rights Respecting Schools Award
The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) programme helps schools place children’s rights at the centre of school life. It’s based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
The RRSA supports schools to:
- learn about children’s rights
- teach respect for the rights of all children
- create positive, inclusive and safe learning environments
- give children and young people a voice in decisions that affect them
Through this work, children develop skills such as respect, empathy, participation and active citizenship.
