Independent Safeguarding and Standards (ISS) sets targets for the delivery of child protection and / or care, and assesses whether the individuals and agencies involved have met them.
ISS does this by:
checking the performance of individuals and agencies in their meeting
checking that agencies meet the targets set for them by ISS, such as ensuring that health checks are completed on time or that child protection plan actions are carried out
sending questionnaires to people who attend child protection meetings to find out what they thought of the way it was organised, and the meeting's outcomes
