Parenting support services

Parenting support services

Our Parenting Support Services start from the belief that bringing up children is the most important role that many of us embark on.

Parenting support workers have knowledge of children and young people’s development and how families work. They use this knowledge to support parents and carers in their important role. Our focus is on building family strengths as well as finding ways forward together.

Because of the current “Stay at Home” order, our group parenting programmes and face-to-face meetings have had to stop. We are still here for telephone calls on +44 (0) 1534 519000. We can also offer information and support through our online request form or email us at childrenandfamilieshub@gov.je.

Support for parents during the Coronavirus pandemic

The Coronavirus pandemic is a challenging time for families, children and young people. Family life and daily routines are disrupted. The closure of schools and the “Stay at Home” order places a particular strain on family life.

The disruption to routine and lifestyle can be unsettling for some children and young people. They may become anxious, confused or frightened by what they are experiencing. Feelings and behaviours will show in different ways. For example, children and young people may be clingy, withdrawn, angry or aggressive.

The social and economic impact on parents and households can upset family harmony and security.

We have put together some resources with ideas to support you in your parenting role during this difficult time:

Talking to your children about Coronavirus

Maintaining emotional and physical wellbeing during the coronavirus pandemic

Support for young people during the coronavirus pandemic

Family relationships at home during the coronavirus pandemic
