About the Toy Swap Shop
Islanders are invited to take part in a Toy Swap Shop to exchange baby and children toys they no longer want, including dressing up clothes.
The aim of the swap is to reduce waste and carbon emissions created by
toys which includes the manufacture and transportation of new toys.
The Toy Swap Shop will take place on Saturday 10 December 2022 from 11am to 2pm at St Paul's Centre. There'll be a quiet time from 10.30am to 11am for children with sensory needs to come.

How the swap works
Drop any of your unwanted toys at the locations listed below. You'll receive a token for each item you bring which you'll be able to swap for a new toy at the Toy Swap Shop event.
You cannot bring toys to swap on the day of the event.
You must have a token to get a new toy, you will not be able to buy toys with money.

Why you should swap your toys
It's estimated that UK children have an average of 4 toys they've never played with. In Jersey, this could add up to 36,468 unused toys. In addition, 28% of UK parents admit to disposing toys that are in perfect working order.
Swapping toys instead of buying them new will:
reduce waste
keep materials in circulation
reduce carbon emissions. Carbon emissions are emitted in the production and consumption of new items
help you save money. In the UK the average spend per child on toys is £294 per year
Swapping toys is also an exciting way to get something new.
What is New2Me campaign
The aim of the New2Me campaign is to rethink the way we shop and encourage you to buy, share, swap and re-use second-hand items.
The Toy Swap Shop campaign focuses on children toys, especially what we do with toys we no longer use or want. Through the campaign we hope to inspire you to reduce the number of new items you buy and think about how you dispose of items you no longer want.
