About the E-bike Grant Scheme 2019

The scheme has closed to new applications.

The E-bike Grant Scheme offers a discount of £150 per e-bike to Jersey residents who purchase an e-bike at participating Jersey based bike shops. It is available for the purchase of both new and second-hand e-bikes.

The scheme can only be used in the purchase of one e-bike per individual.

Grant to buy an e-bike, terms and conditions

The scheme and waiting list is now closed.

Terms and conditions:

  • the scheme is available to Jersey residents only
  • you need to be age 14 or older to ride an e-bike, grant applications for under 18s must be completed by a parent or guardian
  • the scheme can only be used to purchase one e-bike per person
  • you will receive an email from the Government of Jersey when you have completed your online application form
  • the email will contain your unique grant voucher code as well as the name and residential address you entered in the online application
  • the grant code is valid for use within three months of the date of the email
  • you should take the email (on your mobile device, or a printed copy) to any of the participating Jersey bike shops listed below
  • you must also take photo identification (passport, identity card, driving licence) and residential address proof issued within the last three months (utility bill, bank statement, income tax letter) 
  • the participating bike shops must provide a free service check, which you can ask for anytime within three months from the date you purchased the e-bike
  • the data your provide will be held electronically by the Government of Jersey in order to send you a follow up email with an online survey link after three months of the e-bike purchase. Your data will be held in accordance with the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018

If you have been give a grant code but no longer need it, let us know before the 3 month expiry date by emailing Growth, Housing and Environment

Registering your Jersey based bike shop

The scheme is available to Jersey based bike retailers only. You'll need to register if you're interested in partnering with the grant scheme.

Register your bike shop to participate in the e-bike grant scheme

Participating bike shops will need to:

  • verify photo identification and proof of Jersey address against the applicant voucher
  • provide details of the bike sale to the Government of Jersey after each transaction
  • follow quality and pricing guidelines relating to fairness and transparency for the sale of e-bikes
  • adhere to the highest maintenance and safety standards for e-bikes
  • provide a free service check within 3 months of purchase
