Recycling: ash and coal

Once cooled, wood ash can be:

  • added to your home composting bin
  • used as soil fertiliser
  • taken to the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre bagged and put in the kitchen waste container
  • bagged and put in your general household waste

Coal ash should be put in your general household waste when it has cooled because it’s potentially harmful to soil, plants and consumers of edible produce.
