Recycling: ironing boards

How you can recycle ironing boards

  • ​remove the fabric cover and put it in the mixed clothing and textiles container for recycling
  • put the metal part of the ironing board in the metals container
  • if your ironing board is older than 20 years it may contain asbestos in the part where you rest your iron. Speak to our staff at the Household Reuse and Recycle Centre if you need to dispose of it as hazardous waste

You can donate a good quality or nearly new ironing board to the Acorn Reuse Centre at the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre, La Collette or give it to charity.
