Recycling: jewellery

How you can recycle jewellery

If your jewellery is not suitable for reuse or resale and is mostly made of metal, you can dispose of it using the metal container at the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre.

If your jewellery is plastic, put it in your general household waste or use the kitchen waste container at the Household Reuse and Recycling Centre.

  • some jewellery can be melted down and remade into a new item, giving the old metal new life
  • you can donate metal or costume jewellery to a charity shop
  • beads from broken necklaces and bracelets could be useful for craft projects in schools
