Recycling: tea bags

You cannot recycle tea bags

Most tea bags contain plastic to stop them breaking apart so they cannot be recycled.

Put tea bags in your general household waste.

Where you can dispose of tea bags

How you can reduce or reuse tea bags

Using loose tea in a strainer or pot is a great way to reduce your use of plastic.

Good to know

Tea bags, tea leaves and coffee grounds can be added to your home compost. Because most tea bags contain plastic you may want to sieve your compost before use.
