Entering and remaining in the EU after 31 December 2020
Nothing will change for British nationals, which includes those holding Jersey variant British passports, travelling, working or living in the EU until after 31 December 2020.
If you live in Jersey and you hold an EU national identity card or passport nothing will change in relation to travelling, working or living in the EU before or after 31 December 2020.
British nationals travelling after 31 December 2020
The UK and the EU will be negotiating their future trading relationship during 2020, it is uncertain if this will impact future travel for British and EU nationals.
British nationals entering and visiting the EU after 31 December 2020
You will need to ensure your passport is less than 10 years old and has at least 6 months validity left on the day you travel.
At the border you may need to show you have an onward or return ticket, enough funds for your stay and use a non-EU lane.
You should ensure you have adequate health insurance.
If you are a tourist you will not need a visa for short trips to EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland. You will be able to stay for up to 90 days in any 180.
British nationals living and working in the EU after 31 December 2020
If you're intending to continue living or working in the EU after 31 December 2020 you should contact the authorities in the relevant country. You may need to apply for residency and check that you are covered for healthcare.

If you've not been living or working in the EU before 31 December 2020 you'll need to apply to the authorities of the country you intend to live or work in for the appropriate immigration permissions to do so.

After 31 December 2020, as a visitor, you will be able to remain for 90 days in any 180. If you wish to remain longer you can apply to the relevant country’s authorities for a long stay visa.

If you are a student who intends to enrol on courses with an EU university you should check with the institution about arrangements that will be in place after 31 December 2020.
