​Due to COVID-19 we have changed the way that birth is registered in Jersey, as it's not possible for you to register in person at this time.

How to register your child's birth

Complete the application form and email it to SIR@gov.je.

Application to register a birth

You need to provide the completed application within 21 days of the birth of your child.

You must also provide copies of the following identification documents: 

  1. if the father and mother are married to each other, you must scan and email a copy of your marriage certificate, 
    or
  2. if the father and mother are not married to each other, you must scan and email a copy of the mother's birth certificate and the father's birth certificate (if a father is being registered)

If you don't have a scanner, free scanner apps can be downloaded on you smart phone or tablet. 

If you're registering twins, you must complete separate applications for each child.

Where to send the application form

Scan and email the completed application form and identification documents to SIR@gov.je.

To help us process your application, add 'Birth Registration' and the name of your baby to the subject of your email.

How to order a birth certificate for your baby

Apply for a certified copy certificate and pay online. A birth certificate costs £30.

Late registration fee

You must register the birth of your baby within 21 days or a late registration fee of £200 may be applied.
