The Social Security Minister is the politician who looks after the Disability Strategy.
Her name is Deputy Lyndsay Feltham.
This is what she says about the work done in 2023 and 2024.

The report says how local people are helping people with disabilities to be treated equally and included.
A group called the Disability and Inclusion Advisory Group helps decide what work is important.
The Minister is the Chairperson of the group.
This group includes people from the government, private companies,and charities.
It has people with disabilities in the group.
They help bring new ideas.
The Learning Disability, Autism and Disability Cluster shares new ideas from services, charities and groups.
People with disabilities have a say. They can share their experiences and ideas through the groups and to anyone else working on the strategy.
Jersey helped people with disabilities in 2023 and 2024 to be treated equally.
Jersey is improving life for people with disabilities by adding new services and making places easier to access.

Charities help people with disabilities be heard and respected. They work with the government to make changes.
Storm Ciaran and high living costs have made life harder for people with disabilities.
Next year the focus is on making big changes.
This means making sure services are easy to use and work well for everyone.
What we have done so far
In 2023 and 2024 the team kept working on projects to help people live more independently and be part of the community.
One big area of progress was making buildings and websites easier to use.
This included new plans for offices, hospitals, and other places.
The gov.je website got better.
It became easier to use for people with disabilities.
A project called Embrace our Difference helped raise awareness.
Many people and groups joined in to support it.
The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower project trained staff and helped businesses learn about hidden disabilities.
Playparks were checked to make sure they were accessible.
Some changes have been made and there are more planned.
Ant Talks were a success.
Ant shared his personal story about living with a disability.
He helped businesses make changes to make things better for people with disabilities in Jersey.
A new transport scheme was set up to help people with limited mobility.
A blue badge mapping project was completed.
It shows where accessible parking spaces are located.
In Health and Social Care communication and support has got better for young people with disabilities.
A new Video Relay Service helps people who use British Sign Language talk more easily.
In schools, a programme called Inclusion Champion was started.
It helps schools become more inclusive.
We helped students with disabilities find work experience through Trident placements.
The disability employment gap is still a problem.
Work is being done to help more people with disabilities find jobs.
There has been some positive changes in services for older adults.
There are more activities in the community that they can access.
We looked at the short term action plans from the disability strategy.
Most of the plans were going well.
22 action plans were completed.
Some areas still need more work.
New projects for 2025
Digital tools are apps and websites that can help you on your phone or iPad.
This will help Blue Badge Users to find disabled parking spaces.
A new website called Elemental will help people find support and things to do.
A training course is being made.
This will help staff in shops, places and services be more accessible for people with disabilities.
What we are doing in 2026
The focus is on making sure that everyone can take part in the Disability Strategy.
This includes young people and those who are often not heard.
Making services and systems easier and better for people with disabilities to use.
Digital tools will help people with disabilities have more choice and access to services.
We will use Smart data to make decisions.
We will be guided by listening to people with disabilities.
