Apply to correct an error in a registration document

If a mistake was made in any registration you can apply to us to have this corrected.

You need to provide:

  • a signed and dated letter explaining the circumstances of the error and provide your full contact details
  • photo ID
  • the original copy of the certificate that needs to be corrected
  • any documents which support your correction

You cannot apply for a correction to show new information if circumstances change after registration.

After the correction has been made, a note will be added in the margin of the register explaining what the correct information is and when the correction was made.

It can take up to six weeks for a correction to be made.

A replacement certificate costs £30.
