We hold records of all births, adoptions, death and marriages in Jersey from 1842 to the present day and all civil partnerships in Jersey from 2012 to the present day. We also hold indexes of these records.
Getting a copy of a certificate
You can request a copy of the following certificates online or come into our offices:
Standard certificates cost £30 each and short form certificates cost £10 each. They usually take around 3 to 5 working days to produce.
Express certificates, which are provided in one working day. Standard express certificates cost £60 each. Short form express certificates cost £20.
You’ll need to provide as much information as possible about the certificate you need. If you can't provide either the date or parish to whom the certificate relates, you will be charged an additional £30.
Any fees paid to the Superintendent Registrar are non-refundable, if we cannot provide the certificate you requested we will refund you.
You can collect your certificate from our offices for free, or we can post it to you for an extra charge of:
£1 for a Jersey address
£2 for UK and other Channel Islands
All certificates regarding events before the 30 April 2002 are in French, you can get an English translation for free.
Family history research
You can research your family's history at the Office of the Superintendent Registrar.
You can carry out research in person by visiting the Office during public opening hours.
Access is free of charge and staff are on hand to advise.
You can also apply for research to be done for you at £30 per hour.
Any fees paid to the Superintendent Registrar are non-refundable.
