Jersey Fire and Rescue Service: our services, fees and incident figures

We aim to make Jersey even safer by using community safety prevention, fire protection and emergency response activities, as well as through careful management of our resources.

Firefighting and fire prevention

The States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service is equipped and trained to deal with a wide range of fire types, from domestic and commercial fires, to aircraft and furze blazes, fuel fires and more.

As well as fighting fires, we aim to prevent them by giving advice, educating young people, working with planning and building services, and monitoring and enforcing legislation.

Rescue and response

We also:

  • attend road traffic collisions
  • respond to emergencies at sea
  • rescue people from height, such as cliffs
  • help with animal rescue
  • attend incidents involving hazardous materials

Emergency call management

Jersey has the only fire and ambulance control centre in the UK that provides emergency call handling and mobilising for both fire and ambulance 999 calls.

The combined control centre is staffed 24 / 7 and handles over 13,000 emergency calls each year for both emergency services.

Fees and charges for services

We charge for certain non-emergency activities, such as giving technical fire safety advice, responding to off-Island events and attending malfunctioning automatic fire alarms.

Our charges are set out in law.
