The States Assembly and Scrutiny websites were merged and updated to make them accessible on tablet and smartphone and to improve their functionality
What is the project?
We are improving and updating the States Assembly and Scrutiny websites to make it easier for users to find information about States debates, States members and the work of Scrutiny panels. Scrutiny and States Assembly websites are now going to be brought together under one site.
Benefits
We changed the look and feel on the website so it would be accessible for tablets and smartphones. The content, navigation and functionality has also being improved following feedback from users, which included:
- votes with improved layout and changes
- Hansard
- reports
- propositions
- questions with an added field to allow searching by question numbers
- States Minutes
- Order Papers
Challenges we faced
The website has been developed in stages, with the improvements made available on the test site after each phase.
Stage one covered setting up the test site and creating a directory of States members and States members' profile pages.
Stage two provided new search functionality, bringing together documents from the States Assembly and Scrutiny sites.
Further stages provided a general improvement in the design and functionality of the content and landing pages.
Next steps
The new site is live, and feedback is welcomed. We will continue to enhance the site.
