With reference to the current remedial building work being undertaken at the General Hospital - could you please tell me:

A

Who are the Hospital's air and noise construction pollution patient risk assessment team?

B

Are their qualifications in accordance with NHS best practice?

C

Has the risk assessment been reviewed by the Department of works?

D

Have patients and clinicians been consulted of their health risk if they are to remain in an area where work is being carried out?

E

Has the Department of the Environment signed off on the Patient risk assessment?

F

Have the contractors issued an air pollution and noise pollution migration method statement?

G

Are the Department of the Environment attending the site regularly to inspect if the contractor is implementing approved air pollution and noise pollution migration?

H

Have they published the air and noise pollution statement? If so, where please?

A

A combination of the Health & Social Services Department’s (H&SSD) “Facilities Management”, “Infection Prevention & Control” and “Health & Safety” internal divisions.

B

All H&SSD employees have to comply with H&SSD best practice and qualification requirements. Jersey General Hospital is not part of the NHS.

C

Risk assessments are reviewed by the appropriate H&SSD teams listed in response to question 'A' above.

D

The relevant H&SSD divisions / teams review risks associated with the works and determine whether patients, clinicians, staff and visitors can remain in the vicinity of the works being undertaken.

E

No, as there is no requirement for the Department of the Environment to sign off a patient risk assessment.

F

Yes, where relevant, in accordance with H&SSD / States of Jersey policies and requirements, a method statement is issued by the contractor.

G

No, there is no requirement for the Department of the Environment to monitor the works, which are monitored by the appointed project teams and H&SSD divisions.

H

No, as stated above, there is no requirement for the Department of the Environment to monitor the works.
