This is unknown, as the information required to validate if a premises needs a fire certificate is not held by any one department. The information is not held.

There are 151 certificated houses in multiple occupation.

The following categories of buildings require fire certificates:

  • a hospital

  • a care or nursing home

  • a house in multiple occupation

  • a lodging house

  • a hostel

  • a residential school

  • a tourist accommodation

Liable to a fine or imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or both.

All premises that have applied for a fire certificate (and were confirmed as requiring one by The Fire and Rescue Service) since the London Grenfell fire have either completed the certification process or are still undergoing completion. No premises, bought to the attention of The Fire and Rescue Service, that needed to achieve certification, have failed to achieve certification.
