Balance of ring-fenced funds (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 20 May 2019.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

Request

I request the sterling balance of the following ring-fenced funds, as at 31 December 2018:

A

Health Insurance (Medical Benefit) (General Provisions) (Jersey) Order 1967, as amended on 1 October 2018.

B

Medicines (Jersey) Law 1995, revised edition 2.625, 1 January 2018.

Response

A

The information requested is publicly available on page 285 of the Annual Report and Accounts of the States of Jersey which can be found in the following link:

Annual Report and Accounts 2018

For ease, it is confirmed that the net asset balance quoted in the Report as at the end of 2018 was £93,979,000.

B

The Medicines (Jersey) Law 1995 is “a law to make provision with respect to medicinal products and related matters and for purposes connected therewith”. There is no reference to a specific ring-fenced fund being set up by this legislation.
