What is the average cost per student attending CAMHS?

B

What is the average time spent in CAMHS?

Response

A

It is not possible to differentiate costs of students attending CAMHS compared to other service users, however the majority of CAMHS clients are aged 4 to 17 years.

The average cost per client, based on the annual service cost divided by the number of clients who had at least one contact with CAMHS in 2018, was £2,232.04.

B

The average length of involvement (the time between referral and discharge) for clients discharged from CAMHS in 2018 was 37 weeks.

Note that this includes the time spent waiting between the referral being received and the first routine appointment. The average wait was five weeks in 2018 compared to an NHS Benchmarking average of nine weeks (2017/18).
