I request the Rules and Regulations regarding the Rank Taxi Drivers Grandfather Rights.

I request the dates when this was regulated and to date if this has been amended.

Response

The taxi cab reform programme was approved by a Ministerial Decision (MD) on 28 September 2015 (ref MD-T-2015-0079). This is available on www.gov.je at the following link:

The reform programme is in its transitional period and won’t be fully implemented until March 2021. There have been no amendments to the programme since the signing of the MD.

The following table details the rules and regulations regarding Rank Taxi Driver Grandfather rights.

​January 2019​Company vehicles remain as Red Plates.​White Plate vehicles remain as White Plates or can apply for a Purple Plate if they meet the criteria for both vehicle and driver. If a White Plate is returned, it will be re issued as a Purple Plate.​Yellow Plate vehicles remain as Yellow Plates or can apply for a Purple Plate if they meet the criteria for both vehicle and driver. If a Yellow Plate is returned, it will be re issued as a Purple Plate.​No changes for existing Purple Plate vehicles.
​March 2020​Company vehicle plates will be replaced by Purple Plates with red writing.​White Plate vehicles remain as White Plates or can apply for a Purple Plate if they meet the criteria for both vehicle and driver. If a White Plate is returned, it will be re issued as a Purple Plate.​Yellow Plates discontinued and replaced by Purple Plates. Yellow Plate vehicles remain as Yellow Plates or can apply for a Purple Plate if they meet the criteria for both vehicle and driver. If a Yellow Plate is returned, it will be re issued as a Purple Plate.​No changes for existing Purple Plate vehicles.
​March 2021​All remaining Red Plates to be replaced by Purple Plates with red writing.All remaining White Plates to be replaced by Purple Plates.​All remaining Yellow Plates to be replaced by Purple Plates.​No changes for existing Purple Plate vehicles.
