I would like to request details of all vehicle registrations as at February 2020.

This will enable us to do some analysis regarding numbers between all different fuel / non-fuel vehicles on the road.

Response

The attached spreadsheet provides details of the current registered vehicles broken down into fuel types as at 20 February 2020.

However, it should be noted that the total number of vehicles on the register does not reflect the actual number of vehicles in existence. Unfortunately, despite it being a legal requirement for registered owners to notify DVS within seven days of a vehicle being scrapped or exported DVS is not always notified.

The DVS Register is currently undergoing a data cleansing exercise to obtain a more accurate picture of the number of vehicles still in existence. As it is a large operation, it is envisaged it will take a number of months to complete.
