Response

A
The information held on the recorded number of pupils in a Government of Jersey school with a part-time timetable for at least part of the academic year is shown in the table below. This information is not held on a central database and is held by each school, often in individual pupil files. Therefore, we cannot be certain that the data for the earlier years provides a full and accurate data set.

2016/1720
2017/1833
2018/1953
2019/2070

B
There are a range of approaches to managing conduct and participation of pupils across Jersey schools. Schools may not have recorded, or indeed considered some of their practices as ‘internal suspensions’. The data held by the Government of Jersey is therefore subject to these limitations.

2016/17230
2017/18301
2018/19383
2019/20378

C
Jersey has no permanent exclusions from school. The figures below therefore relate to fixed term exclusions.

2018/19701
2019/20640

The data for the earlier years is available in a previous response:
Primary and Secondary School exclusions (FOI)

D
The breakdown of Jersey Premium funding by school is shown in the table below. Disclosure control has been applied by merging the funding for certain years where a school had low pupil numbers in order to protect the identity of individual pupils.

Breakdown of Jersey Premium by school
E & F
The total number of pupils who benefited from Jersey Premium in the following years is shown in the table below.

2016/172281
2017/183267
2018/192440
2019/202843

Jersey Premium aims to help all children get the best from their education and raise attainment of all pupils. Pupils may directly benefit from payment of a specific activity but this is not recorded on an individual basis. Jersey schools each publish evaluations and strategies on their individual school websites, which outlines the range of activities in relation to their Jersey Premium spend.
