I would like to know the Gross total income received by the Government in respect of fuel duty, on a year by year basis, for the last 10 years or whatever can be reasonably provided. The amount should not include any civil service admin costs relating to the recovery of this duty.
Against this I would like to know the total amount spent per year on road works, not enhancements or traffic calming / changing measures, for the same period. This amount should not include civil service staff or overhead costs related to the works.
I am asking this question as the state of some of our main roads is disgraceful.

The 2019 Impôts duty on motor fuel in accordance with the 2019 accounts is £22.7m.
The amount spent on road maintenance is as follows:
As requested, the figures do not include any Civil Servant costs, however they do include the cost of employing Manual Workers to work on the road network. There may be elements of improvements in the capital figures though generally the above is the annual spend on road maintenance including surface repairs, street lighting, traffic signals and crash barrier maintenance / replacements.
It is estimated that to review the data held to ensure no elements of improvements were included would take in excess of the time allowance applied under the Freedom of Information Regulations (Jersey) 2014.
Article 16 A scheduled public authority may refuse to supply information if cost excessive
(1) A scheduled public authority that has been requested to supply information may refuse to supply the information if it estimates that the cost of doing so would exceed an amount determined in the manner prescribed by Regulations.
Regulation 2 (1) of the Freedom of Information (Costs) (Jersey) Regulations 2014 allows an authority to refuse a request for information where the estimated cost of dealing with the request would exceed the specified amount of the cost limit of £500. This is the estimated cost of one person spending 12.5 working hours in determining whether the department holds the information, locating, retrieving and extracting the information.
