What is the legal size a single bedroom in a flat has to be in square metres for a child over age 10?

B

Can a large immersion boiler / heater be in a child’s room?

Response

The information you have requested is exempt under Article 23 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 because the information is already accessible to you on www.gov.je within the web pages linked below:

A

The age of the proposed occupant does not affect the minimum size specified for a single occupancy bedroom. This size must be adhered to for all new developments. Section 8 in this guidance sets out the current standards:

Housing developments specifications (planning policy note)

The Draft Bridging Island Plan, which is currently out for public consultation, is seeking to review the current standard.

B

A large immersion boiler / heater can be housed in a child’s room, and guidance on hot water systems can viewed in section 6.5 of the following document:

Part 6: drainage, hygiene and hot water storage (gov.je)
