Health and Community Services commissioning strategy (FOI)

Request

The Minister for Health recently stated (JEP 29th March 2022) that "A new commissioning strategy, which has been developed in partnership with more than 30 health and care organisations, including charities, will promote greater co-ordination in the planning and provision of services. As a result of the strategy, the best practices for healthcare in Jersey have been adopted, ensuring Islanders will receive treatment and support centred around their needs".

A

Please provide the names of the 'More than' 30 charities and care organisations?

B

Please explain how the co-ordination of this group of organisations will be overseen?

C

Who is responsible for overseeing and co-ordination and ensuring that this works seemlessly?

D

Please explain how the best practices for healthcare have been adopted given that many islanders are now facing non care and having to provide private health care?

B

This will develop over the life of the strategy. Initially the Health and Community Services (HCS) commissioning team will work with currently commissioned services to develop the partnership principles and partnerships, along with the new outcomes based commissioning contracts and service level agreements. This will then move towards commissioning through partnerships, where the partnerships will support each other in delivering the commissioned outcomes. There will remain commissioning oversight.

C

For health and adult care services, oversight is the responsibility of the HCS commissioning team under the Minster for Health. Children’s community mental health, education, early help and children’s social care commissioning will remain with Children, Young People, Education and Skills, working in partnership with the other departments.
