Request

'The Covid Support Audit are tasked with reclaiming money from small business who received a payout under the Co-Funded Payroll Scheme in 2020.

Whilst many small business owners are adamant they made a legitimate claim, in accordance with the Government directions provided at the time, they are still being asked for money back. Specifically they were told to declare 'gross' income.

Gov then later went on to demand paybacks, after seemingly basing their audit calculation on 'net' income. This appears to be a Government error which has not yet been publicly acknowledged. Has it been acknowledged in private Gov correspondence or officially recorded Government conversations?

Relevant politicians are Suzie Pinel, Lyndon Farnham, Kristina Moore, John Le Fondre, Ian Gorst.'

Response

There has been no acknowledgement of a government error as all claims have been processed based on the guidance below:

The Co-Funded Payroll Scheme guidance and FAQs are available on www.gov.je:

All claims are being audited in line with the guidance and monies over-claimed are being recovered.
