Zero emissions and electric vehicles (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by Government of Jersey and published on 17 October 2022.
Prepared internally, no external costs.

I see a Ministerial decision has been made for Zero emissions or electric cars.

Please provide a list of manufactures cars and trucks and buses that circulate on the Island's roads regarding emissions.

Please breakdown all zero and electric manufacturers.

The information requested is partially exempt under Article 23 (Accessible by other means) of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011.

The Government of Jersey have committed to publish vehicle registration details quarterly on Information up to 30 September 2022 can be accessed using the following link:

All Registered Vehicles to end of September 2022.csv (

Once downloaded, the whole spreadsheet can be filtered to allow the extraction of the specific information required e.g., per Co2 emissions, fuel type.

It should be noted that Driver and Vehicle Standards (DVS) began recording vehicle emissions on the vehicle register from 2010, when provided by the customer, since this information is not readily available from all manufacturers.

Therefore, this information is not held for all vehicles on the register and Article 10 of the Freedom of Information (Jersey) 2011 has been applied.

All vehicles recorded with the fuel type 'Electric' will have zero emissions even if this is not recorded on the register.  The relevant filters can be used to extract this information from the spreadsheet as explained above.
