With regard to High Net Worth 2(1) (e) (formerly 1(1) (k) individuals), it is important to understand the development of the 2(1) (e) tax provisions within the Income Tax law over the years. 

An illustrative paper is therefore included below (prepared in March 2015) that compares separate groups of these taxpayers and the tax contribution by 2(1) (e) grouping [NB the 2014 receipts from high-value residents totalled approximately £12m as at April 2016].
