Smoking in a motor vehicle (FOI)

Smoking in a motor vehicle (FOI)

Produced by the Freedom of Information office
Authored by States of Jersey and published on 07 September 2016.

Request

Since the new smoking law was introduced on 1 September 2015 which makes it illegal to smoke in a motor vehicle carrying passenger(s) under 18 years of age, how many people have been caught, fined, or otherwise prosecuted?

Please break down, for each month up until 26 August 2016, the number of people who were stopped in their vehicles, how many appeared in court and how many people were fined (or otherwise disciplined) and how much they were forced to pay.

Please also include again, by month the number of males and the number of females.

Response

There have been no prosecutions under the Restriction on Smoking (Motor Vehicles) (Jersey) Regulations 2015 since it was enacted on 1 September 2015.
