Please could you provide a breakdown of the number of hospitalisations (hospital admissions) to date in 2016 that were due to new psychoactive substances (NPS), including which substance was cited / recorded in each case.

B

Please could you provide a breakdown of the number of hospitalisations to date in 2016 that were due to 'conventional' drugs.

C

Is the same data available for cases where people simply visited Accident and Emergency (A&E) themselves after taking NPS or conventional drugs, ie how many A&E visits have there been this year because of NPS or conventional drugs and what drugs were cited / recorded at these times.

New psychoactive substances are not recorded as a separate diagnosis category. 

The number of admissions between January and August 2016 are provided in the tables below for all drug and alcohol diagnosis codes. 

All codes are in the primary position, ie the main reason for the patient’s admission. 

Where numbers are less than five, the data has not been provided in order to protect the identity of individuals. 

Where possible, codes have been combined to avoid suppression.
