About the Jersey Domestic Abuse Programme (JDAP)
JDAP is a domestic abuse programme delivered by the Jersey Probation and After-Care Service, It is for any adult who has behaved abusively towards their current or previous partner(s) who wants to change their behaviour.
JDAP works by focusing on strength and providing individual skills to use so that clients are better placed to make positive choices within intimate relationships and keep everyone safe.
JDAP has 8 modules. A Probation Officer will meet with the client to assess risk and will formulate an individualised plan, identify which modules of the programme are required.
Due to the individual nature of the programme, the number of modules completed will depend on the individuals personal circumstances.
The JDAP modules are delivered by Probation staff, however, you don't have to be subject to criminal proceedings or Probation supervision in order to take part.
What the modules will include
The compulsory modules cover motivation and relationship skills. Additional modules cover areas such as anger, trauma or children and parenting.
The modules are designed to be delivered on a one-to-one basis with a programme worker. However, the core modules can also be delivered within a small group setting, This allows those with different learning styles to benefit from the programme and also to learn from one another's experiences. All group participants will agree to a contract of confidentiality.
How to take part
In order to participate on the programme you'll be asked to provide details of your currect partner and if appropriate, former partner(s) and children.
The Probation and After-Care Service will work with Jersey Domestic Abuse Support, a team of professionals who provide support to those that have experiences intimate partner abuse.
This content is necessary to ensure that all parties, including the client, are effectively supported and safeguarded.
