Summary
The Social Security Department compiles and administers data on people registered as Actively Seeking Work in Jersey. The States of Jersey Statistics Unit independently analyses this anonymised data and publishes monthly reports of the figures.
On 31 October 2014:
- the non-seasonally adjusted actively seeking work (ASW) total was 1,430. This total is 20 lower than the previous month (September 2014)
- both the seasonally adjusted and non-seasonally adjusted ASW totals in the latest month were the lowest for more than three years, since September 2011
- long-term ASW (registered for more than twelve months) accounted for a sixth (16%) of total ASW. The latest number of long-term ASW was 20 lower than in the previous month and was the lowest recorded since May 2011
- 220 teenagers (aged 16 to 19 years) were registered as ASW, 20 fewer than at the end of the previous month (September 2014) and 100 fewer than a year earlier (October 2013)
